FAQs

What is the difference between the Learning Commons and the bookstore?

The bookstore sells, rents, and buys textbooks for Jefferson courses. The Downtown Campus Bookstore is located on the 1st Floor of the Jefferson Educational Center (JEC) building, which is located at: 200 W. Broadway, Louisville, Kentucky, 40202. If you receive financial aid, you can use it to purchase textbooks at the bookstore using your student ID.

The Learning Commons has many books and DVDs that can help you with class assignments, and you can check out these for free using your student ID. Learning Commons materials can only be checked out for a few weeks (see details here), not for the entire semester. The Learning Commons has some textbooks available in our course reserves that can be checked out and used for 2 hours at a time in the Learning Commons.
